Businesses make deals with Bixi

Businesses are arranging group Bixi memberships and sponsoring Bixi docks.

I find a use for Bixi quite often (would use it daily were there a dock near my day job) and consider myself a fan, but I do have a question.

Several times I’ve seen the Bixi trailer zoom past, carrying bikes from overloaded stations back to empty docks. Bixi’s operators must have someone watching the docks over the web, but by now they must have a general idea of the daily ebb and flow of the bikes and when to redistribute them. Docks don’t stay balanced by magic.

But when you look up your Bixi usage on the web, besides a listing of your trips you see estimates of how much gasoline you’ve saved and greenhouse gas you’ve refrained from emitting.

Do those figures reflect the fact that Bixi has to keep vehicles on the road to shuffle the bikes around?
