GND found guilty of contempt of court
Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois has been found guilty of contempt of court for having encouraged students to ignore a court injunction last May. He’ll be sentenced November 9. ASSÉ has condemned the verdict (English translation).
As various voices have said on Twitter, “GND risque la prison pendant que le maire Vaillancourt et le maire Tremblay se reposent.”
Later: A demo of about 200 people protested the verdict Thursday evening, and was declared illegal.

Meh. He’ll appeal and get a slap on the wrist with the unions and Marois helping him out. If not, then he can add “political prisoner” to his resumé.

I understand your point of view, but frankly you come off as an apologist. FWIW the big unions on a national level actually tried to suppress the student movement. There are a handful of people trying to do right by Quebec, and Nadeau-Dubois is one of them. He has paid a heavy price for going by his convictions and the political machine is fucking him. The same political machine that will keep everyone who is in real power out of jail, fucking all of us by extension. Whether the testimony against the politicians is coming from “questionable” sources is irrelevant – who better to know how deep the corruption runs? Of couse they’re trying to cop a deal, I’m not naive, but we all know that everyone is on the take from the cops all the way up to the feds and it’s about time someone told us what’s going on. Maybe it will get people mad enough to effect real change. You’re not contributing anything to the struggle to fix what’s wrong with Quebec with your attitude. We have so much potential and there are so many good things about Quebec in general and Montreal in particular that if you’re not willing to call a spade a spade and you’re not willing to at least argue in favour of making this a better place, you’re part of the problem.

@Ian
Would those be the same unions that bankrolled the student protesters? Thats a very strange way to suppress a movement.

People are just so damn impatient. Contempt of court is a pretty simple case which is why justice in this case is swift. Those witnesses at Charbonneau will soon end up being punished, and others too

Not only did the QC unions bankroll the student protests, they even gave the student leaders (Blouin, Desjardins and of course GND) crash courses in negotiating with the QC government.
