25 years since the death of Lévesque
Papers are marking 25 years since the death of René Lévesque on November 1, 1987. Le Devoir has a whole dossier including a photo of baby René (without cigarette). The Journal de Montréal also has a section but it’s behind a paywall.

I was 5 years old, and it is my first “political” memory. I remember seeing my grandmother cry and my whole family so sad, it was very strange to see all these adults so shocked by the death of someone I didn’t really understand what he represented. Maybe my daughter will remember the death of Jack Layton likewise.
