The article is a bit confused about the timing of these extra cameras. the phrase “va presque doubler d’ici un an” is not correct.
The new cars to be delivered starting in 2014 will have 4 cameras per car. This is where the 1872 number comes from (4 per car * 9 cars per train * 52 trains). However, the last train will only be delivered in 2018.
The STM could install cameras in the older cars but I’m not aware of any project to do that.

Hmm, I know I’ve seen cams in buses. Not in metro cars at all?

Surely if we need that much security, we need it in our metro cars over the next 2 to 3 years? Or are we only installing cameras in the new ones because it’s easy and cheap and because we can?
