Hot kitchenware ordered out of town
A shipment of radioactive kitchen utensils from India, brought here by a Korean shipping company, has been ordered out of the Port of Montreal where it’s been sitting since May. There’s some chance it was contaminated in India by a decommissioned radiological device made in Canada in 1968. Where the material will be sent now is anyone’s guess. There’s really nowhere safe to put radioactive garbage.

Doesn’t Canada have nuclear waste disposal sites, like the WIPP in the United States?

This is what I find on that topic.

I think it’s less an issue of whether or not Canada can dispose of it as it’s an issue of who is responsible for PAYING for the disposal.

Point. The nature of globalization and modern shipping means the trail of who owns a shipment, where it’s going and who’s responsible for it can be impenetrable.
