Earthquake waveform page
Earthquakes Canada page with waveform graphics shows that our quake started with one solid jolt followed by several seconds of aftershock – which is exactly how I would’ve described it.
Also already half a dozen memes – including one photo of a cracked street already debunked as having been from last year’s Christchurch NZ quake and not this one – a few dozen jokes about Quebec separating from Canada, and a fair bit of low comedy.

Maybe that Beluga whale seen in the Old Port yesterday was a precursor to the quake. Whales are exquisitely sensitive to vibrations. Strange events. Maybe we need to pay more attention to the critters….

Weird, because I felt sort of the opposite; I felt a jiggling, followed by a pause, then an audible rumble and a jolt.
