Hotel stories: strikes, settlements, closure
Two hotels have settled their labour difficulties and another, the Gouverneur, now faces a strike.
Meantime, the Hotel de la Montagne and longtime Crescent street hangout Thursdays have closed forever in preparation for a major demolition and construction project that will alter that part of town beyond recognition.

“will alter that part of town beyond recognition”…dramatic much? The project is grand, but it doesn’t exactly span several blocks. Not to mention, the central part of the project, the Ogilvy building, is staying put.

The vibe on two streets key to many people’s experience of the city – Crescent and Mountain – will be changed forever. Think about how the Concordia EV building has changed the nature of Guy and Ste-Catherine, for example. Like that.
