Tories nix reviving the Avro Arrow – again
Oh man. The Tories have repeated a stunt from 50 years ago and shot down a nascent plan to revive the Avro Arrow, a plane that could still outfly many current models and would be spectacular if brought up to date technically. The Arrow program was killed off by the Diefenbaker Tories in 1959.

Wow, what a shame. My father worked on the original Arrow project and we weren’t allowed to even mention Diefenbaker’s name in our house when I was growing up. Many of the engineers who developed the Arrow left Canada to work for NASA’s Apollo missions and played a big role in the moon landings.

It’d be cool if somebody could build a replica, even (/especially?) if it isn’t used as a template for a modern fighter jet.
