Silent vigil mourns Metropolis victim

A silent vigil Wednesday evening mourned Denis Blanchette, killed Tuesday during the PQ election party at the Metropolis. La Presse also profiles Blanchette and his colleague Dave Courage, wounded by the presumed attacker, Richard Henry Bain. The Journal has its own description of what happened at the back door of the Metropolis, where Blanchette and Courage were having a smoke and waiting for the event to end so they could take the tech equipment down.

A look at Bain’s life and business sketches the usual unsatisfying portrait, leaving the usual unanswered questions; the Journal also rummages around in Bain’s life but ends by noting that he had never had any brush with the law before.
