Election items approach summing up
Putting the election after a long weekend has created a slightly odd effect in which the campaign is followed by a lull before we go to the polls. The director-general of elections says his people are ready but notes that nearly a million voters have already cast their vote in the advance polls a week ago. La Presse even has a map showing where advance voting was most popular. (What the candidates wouldn’t give to know the results!)
As of today, polls show the PQ within a percentage point of a majority. François Legault says the election is now a contest between the PQ and the CAQ.
The Journal has a detailed election quiz requiring familiarity with both platform points and incidents during the campaign.
And undecided voters should try out Radio-Canada’s boussole électorale, also available in English as the vote compass, if they haven’t already. This feature lets you plug in your views and see how they match the promises and platforms of the various parties. CBC Montreal also created a word cloud feature which reveals the concepts most obsessed-over by each party.

This election has been difficult, I can’t wait to have my friends back! It seems these last few weeks it seems everyone has been particularly hit by the Crazy. Fed up of reading on Facebook, “If X wins, they will install an Apartheid system in Quebec” or ” if Y wins they will double our taxes” … Not to talk a out half the discussion threads that degenerate into Goodwin awards.
It’s politics… I don’t expect much changes in anything , really.

Yes, I’ve seen a few folks sparring on Twitter and Facebook who are normally the best of pals. It’s weird.
