What a shame. A terrible accident, probably some overworked employee had finished moving a bunch of stock (including fuel cannisters) and then stopped to take a cigarette break in the office, didn’t properly butt out his cigarette. Pure coincidence that it started in the head office where all the papers are kept…
Big surprise here: the CBC traces a mob link to the business.
Is it just me or is there hardly a week that goes by in this town without a firebombing or two? Has anyone ever been arrested? I feel like the Police don’t bother with this mob vs. mob violence.
More importantly, was it a Calabrese or a Sicilian affiliate? I suspect we will see a lot more action of this sort over the coming year. The cops are on the take to ignore it as much as possible, I’m sure, just like every other official functionary.
I wonder. The cops maybe. I would hope the fire department couldn’t be co-opted.
I don’t think this is mob vs. mob. These guys were wiping out evidence.
Could very well be. Charbonneau commission fire sale?
If they had the fire to hide a paper trail, “I don’t have my papers” doesn’t exempt them from getting the book thrown at them.
It makes it a hell of a lot harder to convict.
