Best city for conferences: another of those lists
Montreal’s the top city in North America to hold an international conference, according to the Union of International Associations (although I can’t find the study on that site).

Finally some good news.

Yes, Montreal is popular because it’s relatively easy to find a discreet prostitute for a reasonable amount of money.

So, what’s the going price, qatzelok?

To tell the truth Montreal, while having a reputation for sleaziness, is nowhere near the sin city it once was. I know qatzelok is far too urbane and well-travelled to need reminding about other places in North America, but I’m pretty sure Las Vegas (for one) has little old Montreal beat for the sex trade. Even for strip clubs this city is chump change on the continental scale.

I think our claim to fame as a party city (in the eyes of Americans, anyway) comes from a combo of 2 things: you can drink here legally at 18 and strip clubs are interspersed with ordinary businesses and not hidden in some sleazy corner of town. So people come here to party as students and Montreal is enshrined in many memories as the place you go to walk on the slightly wild side.
