Old Montreal on the brink, 1964
Archives de Montréal has a photo feature today on Old Montreal in 1964. The correct Flickr link to the photo set.
Some of the views have hardly changed, some show the Gosford viaduct and the area before the huge damage of the Ville-Marie effacing Vitre Street.

These are great. The Archives de Montréal Flickr stream has been on fire lately. They have published some great nightime shots from Mount Royal last week too. I wish the McCord would get more of their Notman stuff on Flickr.

The McCord has a lot of images in its own viewer, which I know is more tied up in knots than Flickr is, but you can see lots of photos on its site.

Yes, I have been through the McCord site but it is rather clunky. I actually showed up at the McCord once and asked where all the Notman photos were and was told that none were currently on display. It’s a shame they have not created a permanent exhibition of those photos. They are really a treasure trove of Montreal history.

Question of space. What they should have there is probably a couple of terminals with good monitors and a simple search and display method, rather than putting prints on the walls.
