Man dies in solo accident on Concorde bridge
A man died in a solo crash on the Pont de la Concorde Wednesday morning. The Gazette drops a hint that the driver may have been going home from the Casino but police would not speculate.

This doesn’t make any sense. There is nothing to run into on that bridge and the car just looks like it’s burned. Modern cars do not typically burst into flames from scraping into a concrete wall. I wonder if this is some kind of weird suicide?

The Gazette is most likely wrong. The article in La Presse states that the license plate was not detected by the devices in place for this purpose at the Casino: “Il ne semble pas que la Honda Accord revenait du Casino de Montréal. Des appareils permettent de relever les plaques de tous les véhicules se rendant au casino, et celle-ci ne semble pas y être passée.”

Maybe… but what other feature would someone be returning from over the Concorde early on a Wednesday? Hm.

That is indeed quite strange. Also, the driver side door was not damaged, but the driver made no attempt to exit the car. The mystery deepens. Also, the Gazette article has been amended to reflect the fact that the vehicle was apparently not returning from the Casino.

I checked out the site of the crash. All signs point to an intentional impact.
