Quebec cuts plastic bag use in half
Quebecers have cut their plastic shopping bag use in half, beating the government goal.
We used 2.2 billion of the things in 2008 and cut it to a billion in 2010.
That’s a lot, but I wonder if this isn’t still pretty cosmetic, environmentally. Montrealers are devoting brain space to thinking about carrying a reusable bag to the store, while Jean Charest is waving through the deforestation of Anticosti Island toward shale gas fracking.
