Transvestite star Jean Guilda dies
Montreal’s first real transvestite star Jean Guilda died Wednesday. Jean Guilda de Mortellaro, originally from Paris, found a showbiz home in Montreal. La Presse has a photo set showing him in costume and out.

I came across Guilda by accident sometime around 1979 when I was sent to a warehouse club in Rosemont called the Entre-Peau (get the pun?) to track music copyright violations. Guilda was the headliner. I then followed the gossip columns in the tabloids for years. There is an autobiography “Guilda: Elle Et Moi” written with Denis Monette. – ISBN 9782890890442
