Sewer collapse closes Peel Street northbound
Yet another sewer collapse has caused another partial street closure on lower Peel Street, and tweets are saying the city has admitted the asphalt on Ste-Catherine, where a sinkhole opened Tuesday, is being held up by the old streetcar tracks!

There’s been an update on the Gazette story. Apparently the work on Peel is planned work and not a collapse.

You know the great thing about these sink holes, bike traffic in these areas is now awesome, you just ride right between the cones.

Good point. Going up from University past Sherbrooke was a breeze for a couple of weeks.

This was on the radio but I can’t find a text link: Saint-Dominique shut between Sainte-Catherine and De Maisonneuve due to a sinkhole!

@Jack
You do realize the next headline will be a cyclist plunging to his doom due to a sinkhole, like that woman in… Thailand?… who had the sidewalk open up under her.

@Kevin despite the fact that I am an elderly fat guy I assure you the stresses put on our roads are not from cyclists, the odds of one going down are next to nil. However Kev if you ever get a chance go to the Met with a counter for lets say 5 minutes and count the 16 wheelers tearing through the heart of Montreal ,it is surreal.I worked at working class school built almost underneath the Met and had kids count, it was fun.So remember sinkholes are not related in anyway shape or form to the bicycle and a big shout out to our tram tracks that are actually keeping the roads together, that is the bitterest of ironies.
