  Could get ugly??? The students will get their just desserts (a poor future) and are so blinded by their own sense self-righteousness that they won’t even know it. Pathetic.

  Stand up against something important like hunger, poverty, the language police, intolerance. I’ll be glad to get out there and peacefully demonstrate with you. Otherwise, don’t waste everyone’s time about tuition fees for fuck’s sake!

  Actually, another je me souviens moment is exactly what Quebec needs – last time, the Anglos got blamed for being oppressors of the people’s will – this generation is realizing it’s got nothing to do with language, and everything to do with the corrupt, bad-faith politics and big money.

  mdblog, one man’s important is another man’s unimportant. You list language police. Meh. I think they’re much less worth protesting than tuition fees. (Your other examples are more important.) BTW: when’s the protest against hunger that you’ll be organizing?

  Glad you asked Chris. I’m not really protesting hunger, but I am trying to fight it. I buy a homeless person 1 meal every day (I work downtown) and donate profusely to local food banks (both cash and food). If we all took small PEACEFUL actions such as these in support of causes that are important, we could accomplish so much. Of course, what I’m doing is nothing compared to great work the student demonstrators are doing. Chris, would you care to list their accomplishments?

  I think Charest is milking these student protests as much as he can in an attempt to divert the attention from the real problems in Quebec, mainly the corruption and his involvement in it. It’s a delicate balancing act, though, one that he can only maintain because his opposition is so weak.
