The article also mentions “…Ils inclus (sic) aussi des dispositifs anti-skateboard…”. I wonder how that works? How do you make a skateboard-proof bench?
Bill, I’d argue that the Place des festivals has too much of it, too. I may be flogging a dead horse, here, but has anyone noticed how bleak and sterile that area is, when there’s no show on, which is most of the time?
Despite what some of the comments here suggest, the design is a rather more sophisticated than a simple slab of concrete: Les bancs ont été dessinés par la firme Daoust Lestage, à qui l’on doit également le design du Quartier des spectacles. Ils sont faits de béton, mais comprennent une assise en bois (ipé). Ils inclus aussi des dispositifs anti-skateboard et sont enduis d’un produit qui facilite leur nettoyage.

Wow, I’ll bet graffiti and tag “artists” can’t wait.

Great, more concrete in the Quartier des spectacles.

That works out to almost $7000 per cement slab. The Construction Hells must be very happy with this deal.

I don’t think there is anything more hideous than bare gray concrete and this city already has way too much of it.

clem: i would imagine some circles similar to those that keep you from sliding down in between two escalators.
