City to keep its 103 representatives
The city is determined to keep its 103 elected representatives at least until 2017. Both Vision and Projet voted against the proposal to reduce their numbers before the next municipal election.

for two different and fairly obvious reasons, i’d gather. on the one hand, the good guys want the most local possible decision-making on issues that are best decided locally. and on the other, a group of cynics wants to maximize the number of elected positions and retain the greatest number of their colleagues, cartel-style.

Yep. I think the number could be somewhat reduced, but I don’t think merely reducing it is an answer to anything. If it’s reduced it should be as part of a rationalization of the whole structure of city governance.
