Welcome to the new blog
As mentioned last week, I’ve moved to Wordpress.
The main change for many readers is that the RSS feed has a new address: http://w5.montreal.com/mtlweblog/?feed=rss2 .
There will definitely be further tweaks and changes over the next little while as I shake this thing down. If you see anything persistently weird, it would be kind to drop me a line.
I’ve imported roughly 1000 posts from the old blog so there’s some overlap. (Counting back to November 2001, there have been over 12,000 posts in this blog to date. But most of the older stuff points to news links which have expired.)
Many thanks to Ben Soo for technical assistance with the changeover.

Congratulations on the new look! And now (sometimes) with comments! Bravo!

Comments? Have you reversed your long-standing opposition?

Only partly. I’m going to try enabling comments on occasional items and see how it goes.

I like the new look, and think that enabling comments on occasional items is a great move!

Congrats on the new look. But I’m curious: why the aversion to comments?
admin 17:34 on 2010/03/04 Permalink
Several reasons but the major one is time. I have a day job completely unrelated to this blog so I can’t moderate comments as readily as I’d like to; reading and sorting comments also takes time, and takes a certain hardihood to cope with hateful remarks and nastiness. Also, I mostly post links to news. I don’t create the news and I don’t write the journalism, so if people have a beef with a story – its content or how it’s told – it usually won’t help to comment here.
