A couple of men in clown suits robbed an office on Sherbrooke East today. (Did anyone ask how they knew this specific office had a bunch of money in it?)

I hope they had a clowning permit.

They could be in real trouble if they didn’t.

The robbery took place May 1, the police are still trying to figure where they got the costumes.

You are right. I wonder why it’s only being reported now.

Seems to be all over the news about the Place Jacques-Cartier busker getting taken down by four cops and arrested for the heinous crime of performing without a permit.

Found myself thinking: well, at least he’s lived to tell the tale.

And to think everyones blames protesters for scaring off tourists. I wonder how many people will have returned home with tales of how scary Old Montreal is with the cops jumping people while they’re performing for tourists…

I was wondering if he was going to power-drop (is that the term the kids are using these days?) that cop and, if so, what would have happened to him consequently.
Loved that look of fear/surprise on the cop: “Holy shit, so I’m not invincible?!?”

A worker at La Ronde was killed by a roller coaster Friday afternoon. It was the Vampire ride and the man died instantly.

Item says there will be elevators at Champ-de-Mars metro because it’s closest to the new CHUM, and that elevators will also be installed at Vendôme because of its proximity to the new MUHC hospital. Elevators, in the plural? Interesting, although since Champ-de-Mars is one of the shallowest stations it probably means less digging than for some.

There are two platforms in these stations, so ou need at least two elevators.

    • Alex 12:38 on 2012/07/06 Permalink

Yeah that makes sense: every metro station will eventually have at least two elevators otherwise wheelchair users will only be able to travel in one direction X )

    • Kate 15:49 on 2012/07/06 Permalink

You know, I never thought about that point, but of course you’re both right.

Knowing the stm, there will probably be 3 elevators – 2 to get from platforms to mezzanine and one to get from mezzanine to the outside, so that everybody goes through the same turn styles (or is the mezzanine in champ-de-mars on ground level?)

    • Kate 17:47 on 2012/07/06 Permalink

The mezz is a half dozen steps below ground level. Should be manageable by adding a ramp.

This photo shows the steps down to the turnstiles.

    • ant6n 16:19 on 2012/07/07 Permalink

should be doable. I think the length vs height for an accessible ramp is 1:12, so if this is more than a meter, the ramp would have to be longer than 12 meters.

The city is negotiating with the federal government over keeping the Biosphere open after federal job cuts were to abolish half the jobs at the environmental museum.
