What, a 39% and 59% increase? The article was talking about 4.3%!

Sorry, I meant that those numbers represent the increase in value of the properties according to the city’s role d’évaluation (http://evalweb.cum.qc.ca/). The average increase in property value is 23.5%. The city is suppose to adjust their rates so that the actual tax increase is “only” 4.3% on average.

Can I whine? I just looked at my evaluation foncier. My triplex went up 38% . Which means my insurance and school tax will go up at the same rate.I just looked at the Regie de Logement site and I get to raise my rents 1.2%.I know I am fortunate to own property and I am not starving but how are we going to convince families to stay in Montreal when economically I am way better of to move to Blainville, buy two cars ,a pool and a thermopump and listen to Team 990 3 hours a day.

I did some comparisons and a triplex with tenants got a 39% increase on our street but the exact same triplex just next to it but with condos got a 59% increase. With my building, we got a 59% increase but the same triplex next door got a combined 33% increase (theirs is a “divise” condo and ours is an “indivise”).
