This Globe & Mail item on Peter Gzowski is notable because it’s spelled Gzwoski in the headline and then Gzowksi twice in the text. Does the Globe outsource its proofreading?

A study of crime in Montreal from 2005 to 2008 shows a couple of obvious hot spots: the southwest areas have higher rates of physical attacks, but property crime is highest in the Plateau and Petite-Patrie. Some West Island suburbs have it really comfy though.
An interesting angle is that, while the elderly usually feel most at risk, they’re actually pretty safe. It’s teenagers that turn out to be the commonest victims of violent crime.

Engineering firm Dessau has presented the model of a new air-powered retractable roof for the Olympic stadium. It’s worth having a look at the photo, because this is a roof completely unlike the cable-dimpled version we’re familiar with.

Pat Burns
has died after a long bout with cancer. Hecoached the Canadiens for four seasons between 1988 and 1992.Later note: The Gazette withdrew the item I originally linked above and tweeted that it was not true. Now reports are saying that while Burns is in declining health, some media jumped the gun in reporting his demise. Even later: some mea-culpa-ing from the CBC.
