Discussions are supposed to continue to preserve the Shell refinery and its jobs. Le Devoir has an interesting piece about other investors in Montreal East’s storage business, which also mentions that the refinery is too old and too small for Shell (or anyone else) to want to invest in it.

Much though I flinch from The Métropolitain’s overall tone, I still like Alan Hustak’s writing. Here are the first two items in a series on public spaces: the renovation of Place d’Armes and the planned demolition of the Bonaventure autoroute. Hustak sounds slightly irritated about the state of Place d’Armes but doesn’t mention the projected completion date, which isn’t until next spring.

One suspect has been arrested so far in yesterday morning’s inventive attack on a West Island Birks store with pepper spray. Nobody’s saying how the thieves managed the heist without being affected by the pepper spray themselves.

I would take him a wee step further and say that the corner of Stanley and Saint Catherine is the best buzz in the whole city. It’s not about anything specific, just feels amazing!
