Two men were arrested this weekend in the boutique attack on Ducarme Joseph in March. A third is still being sought. Two men died in the attack, but Joseph escaped unharmed: he’s doing time now for an unrelated incident.

Longshoremen at the Port of Montreal have been locked out even though their union says they were still in negotiations for a new contract. Their old one lapsed two years ago. It’s big enough news for the BBC to take note.

That’s it? I would have thought we would have been the most expensive. That’s not really my concern as much as how much more expensive it is then just a few years ago.

Parking in Montreal is absurdly cheap. The sad thing is the city allows people to run gravel pits downtown rather than developing their lots into something of actual social and economic benefit. Never mind tolls, why not put an additional tax on each car park downtown, and why not start building municipal lots at strategically located points on the public transport network?

Thats actually being planned, there was an announcment early this year about taxing all private parking.

Its not expensive enough. When are they going to apply the parking tax?
