Some residents of Villeray have come out in cordial support of the conversion of the old Chinese hospital on Saint-Denis into a hostel for Inuit needing medical care. The moral of this story is that if you want the community on side with your project, explain to them what you’re planning to do.

Pierre Boivin will step down and Geoff Molson will take the reins of the Canadiens as of next summer.

Shelters for homeless women have been overburdened in recent months and no improvements are mentioned in this item.

You’re supposed to be able to have your say on the design of new official taxi ranks on the Réalisons Montréal site (warning: plays sound file on load). I’ve always found it sufficient to scan the horizon for a row of dome lights, but for some reason now the concept has to be branded.

An interesting look at what might become of Viger Square: Quebec doesn’t care about the Charles Daudelin work that’s there, and wanted to use it as a parking lot for the CHUM construction. Montreal doesn’t want that but seems unsure what it wants, considering the square’s been orphaned by its location by the Ville-Marie. No one’s asking what will become of the homeless folks who camp out there in all weathers.
