Interesting report on a collection of 500 rare musical instruments of worldwide provenance held by the Université de Montréal. Metro has a few photos but the official site has dozens, plus information on them.

Not directly sparked by the Laraque sacking, but I’m hearing tweets and other scuttle adding up to this: Might it not be time for a new general manager for the Canadiens? The Bob Gainey régime hasn’t produced a Stanley Cup or even a team with cohesive spirit, and this year’s wavering between Price and Halak hasn’t done the team any favours. New owners, time for a new GM? Worth thinking about.
I still think the unceremonious and undeserved banishment of Saku Koivu is a blot on the team’s recent memory.

There are not enough rooming houses in Montreal and those that exist are often in terrible shape, and a homeless defence organization would like to see this remedied. Often the only home a poor person can afford is a single room in one of these places – it’s either that or the street.
