I asked earlier about the angels on the façade of Saint-Enfant-Jésus church, and Guillaume Saint-Jean responded; here’s a circa 1910 postcard of the church on the McCord Museum site, showing them in position on the second layer of the wedding cake. Guillaume himself has two shots of the statues when they were stored in the archdiocese basement – this further view of one of the angels gives a better sense of scale.

A study shows that people are attracted to the suburbs all around Montreal because houses and property taxes are lower, and because transit to those areas is improving.
That’s a poser. It’s got to be better to have more public transit options, right? So you’d think. But the better the transit is, the more viable it is to live outside the city and commute in, and sprawl increases. What to do?

The angel statues that used to adorn Saint-Enfant-Jésus church in Mile End are being restored and could be back on the façade this fall. I’ve never seen a picture of the church complete with the angels. Anyone? -
Coca-Cola is threatening a Concordia film group that wants to show a new NFB documentary about its labour practices. The screening was supposed to take place last night: does anyone know if it did?
Later note: I am told it did take place and the crowd was over capacity.

Vision Montreal is proposing light rail to the south shore instead of the Griffintown bus corridor idea the mayor’s party supports. Not sure why the Gazette is running photos from the 2008 Griffintown protests, as this story isn’t about the Dix30 Griffintown plan much discussed at that time.
