Election notes: Some fallen stars
It won't be possible to know how all the chips have fallen till tomorrow, but: In the Plateau, the borough mayor will be Projet Montréal's Luc Ferrandez, the boho element of that borough clearly being cool with taking a chance on the newest party. More unexpected is the election of Projet's Pierre Gagnier in Ahuntsic-Cartierville (at least going by current numbers on the election results site). Although Gérald Tremblay is back, some of his homeboys are not. André Lavallée has fallen behind both the Vision and Projet candidates in Rosemont, and Michel Labrecque also fell to third place in the Plateau. In Villeray, Vision's Anie Samson seems to be well ahead of mayoral brother Marcel Tremblay. On the other hand, Alan De Sousa is back in Saint-Laurent, Helen Fotopulos as a councillor in CDN-NDG (it doesn't look so smart now making her step aside for Michel Labrecque) and Sammy Forcillo as a councillor in Ville-Marie, all for Union Montreal. Louise Harel is handily winning as councillor in Maisonneuve-Longue-Pointe and Richard Bergeron in Jeanne-Mance, beating longtime councillor Michel Prescott via his co-listier Nima Machouf. |
