Our politicians are
not taking the hit for the loss of the Grand Prix, blame falling instead on the well publicized greed of Bernie Ecclestone for larger and larger payments. Citizens are clearly willing to
accept a limit to the amount of public money thrown at such an event. There's already talk of
other racing events coming to town, but American circuits just don't have the same cachet. In any case, there will be
tourism shortfalls that need to be made up somehow.
