The Journal has rustled up
five big ideas to fill the void left by the Grand Prix. There's using the Olympic Stadium for a
circus and casino, there's bringing the
Red Bull Air Race to town, there's
turning Île Notre-Dame into a park – actually, a fair bit of it is greened already, and nothing's stopping people going over and walking around there –, there's Benoit Labonté's
pet project of a new Expo in 2020, and there's the truly horrible notion of
extreme winter games on Mount Royal. In contrast, Richard Martineau proposes avoiding the circus projects and
improving the quality of life in all kinds of ways, and I think this time I'm in accord.
