The history of Joe Beef, one of the larger-than-life characters of 19th-century Montreal. He's buried in Mount Royal Cemetery, although I've only ever spotted his wife's grave, and he also gets a name-check in the minor British classic The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp by W.H.
