I'm a little appalled to read that residents within the perimeter of the comedy festival have to
identify themselves with special badges so as to be allowed to do normal things like walk on their own street with their groceries, their bicycle or their dog. The rest of us must
submit to being searched in order to walk on ordinary city streets. Law professors handwave this, but I'm sure it could be legally challenged if enough people protested. The scary part is that most people don't.
