Montreal firefighters are posting information sheets on the front of their stations to inform the public of the particular shortages of staff and equipment at each station. They're annoyed about short budgets, but aren't allowed to strike.

A major fire broke out today in eastern Montreal; the closest fire station was closed due to an infestation of rats, so firefighters came in from adjoining areas.

Also, the firefighter arrested recently for arson has been freed on bail while awaiting trial.
