The city wants to start archaeological work on sites on the island but outside of Old Montreal, mostly old fort and village sites that existed as separate entities from Montreal back in the day.

Four hundred years always seems to me a very thin premise for archaeology when sites are measured in thousands and tens of thousands of years in places where durable history is longer. But I suppose it's better to study this stuff while we still can.
