The STM tells its security guards to intervene if they see incidents like this week's notorious beating at Berri-UQÀM.

(Older posts on this blog have reminded me that the original idea was for metro security to merge into the police force. Hints were dropped now and then that neither side was very happy with this idea, and now we have police sending in a metro detachment but with metro security guards still in existence as a separate force. I wonder if there's a story to be told to clarify what's gone on here.)
