Ville-Marie passes strict tidiness laws
Gripped in the current mania for civic tidiness, Ville-Marie passes a law obliging both owners and tenants to keep their frontage tidy or be hit with fines. The borough also plans to hire more inspectors. Flyposting is also going to be strictly illegal. This is a bad move, because the liveliness of our cultural life is supported and displayed in the constantly changing event posters around downtown and the Plateau. I am not against keeping crap off the streets, but downtown shouldn't try to look like Pointe Claire. |
