Provincial campaign gets going
With the Quebec election called for March 26 and the PQ and PLQ neck and neck, it will be interesting to see how many bones are tossed in Montreal's direction as the parties woo the fickle and critical voters on this island. Al Gore, who was here in town yesterday, encourages us to vote for whichever party puts the environment first. It's not bad advice, but the environment (as well as health care, reasonable accommodation and other issues) will always come second in Quebec to the question of how the electorate is feeling on the ever volatile matter of Quebec's independence. |
